Reptiles and "lizardfolk" are apparently my new thing, or so says my muse. Probably has something to do with those screenshots of Argonians from Skyrim. They look amazing, so there's definitely some inspiration there. Also, autumn is rolling around (finally) and there has been some rain around here, and I love rain, so it has been feeding into my art as well.
I like how this turned out, the heavy dark shadows, somewhat wet scales, the flame thing and background are all something that worked out pretty well, so I hope you like it too!
SO Beautiful and inspired! Love the use of color contrast-- and the wet shine on his scales are awesome!
This immediately reminded me of an old old Pokemon episode where Ash rescues weakened Charmander from the rain... because if the fire on his tail goes out, he would die. Too bad the show never "evolved" from there... ha ha bad joke.
One suggestion that you don't have to take: A very very slight warmth from the fire light on his chin and/or the chest beneath his arm would round out the lighting, seeing as how it reaches his upper finger so vibrantly. Then again, it might ruin the awesome chilled orange of his eyes.
Wow--incredible atmosphere! If my work were on par with this, I'd feel brave enough to critique it. All I can say right now though, is very nifty stuff--that is a darned fine piece of art!
